change management Questions

Dear all,

I would like to know the most popularly used Change management tools (both Open Source as well as Proprietary). It will be helpful if you could briefly outline the difference between these tools. Also, is there any universal tool that can be used for multiple purposes like Change/bug tracking/release etc.,?

Appreciate your response!

Pradeep

Hi All,

As a configuration engineer, what all are the points we need to discuss, or what all are the questions to be asked to decide which version control tool can be used for a new project developement?

Im not able to import the users into Change synergy after installation.

Secondly, I cannot select the priveleges to the users as the cehck boxes are not displayed

Is it possible to use multiple hrefresh files with CA SCM R12?

I suppose this is both a "new CM Crossroads format" opinion as well as a question.  I have now attempted to follow two links from the old ClearCase International User Group (CCIUG) and both have come up with 404 Not Found errors.  How do I find this type of data?  The search utilties I've found on the site so far are worthless and the documents are just not to be found...

Here is a quick review of the new site:

I think the new format is pretty but disfunctional.  By completely dropping the old forums and not providing an archive to keep the old linked data available I'm afraid that this site isn't nearly as useful as it was in the past.  I've always liked Bob but I have to say I miss Patrick.  With the old forums it was easy to quickly identify a location of interest and then to drill down into that or search it for more targeted relevant data.  This new format...not so much.

I'm trying to figure out a way to download attachments from Problem Reports in Change Synergy. But I'm stuck with ccm export command it seems that either I don't have the permission to use it or it is absent in Web Mode CLI, is there other way to download it.

I can get the info about the PRs via :

ccm query "is_attachment_of(cr('PR_displayname'))"

but that's the extent of what I could get.

Any help would be appreciated.

Pawel

has anybody come across such an error ?

Thanks

We have an issue with the endevor package promotion process. When more than 2 packages are promoted at the same time, we get file contentions for the component libraries. Is there a installation setting that needs to change to overcome this problem ?

Additionally, when a package is cast, the current configuration does not validate (since validate is set to 'N' by everyone) the versioning is no checked. This is leading to versioning errors during the promotions. Is there a option to continue to use validate of 'N' during package casting and at the same time, prevent casting due to out of sequence versions. We are trying to reduce casting related errors during promotion, but at the same time have to continue with validate package set to 'N' while casting.

Would appreciate any thoughts on these issues.
