Live Requirements Management

Polarion ALM for Subversion raises the bar for state-of-the-art Requirements Management! Requirements engineers and domain experts can work with accustomed Microsoft Office® tools (Word and Excel), while engineering manages the implementation in the data-driven environment they need. Polarion's customizable requirements templates turn requirements documents into Live RM Documents. Requirements and the defined implementation tasks automatically translate into Work Items – artifacts managed in the development tracker. Changes in the document or a Work Item are always synchronized, and appropriate people are automatically notified. Users can also create Requirements directly in Polarion and link them to the relevant tasks. Attach (non-live) documents, link to external resources, assign responsibility, estimate time to completion, and more.

Live Project Planning

With Polarion ALM for Subversion, a project plan is based on the actual Requirements and the engineering Tasks required to implement them. Rather than spend time feeding some planning tool, project managers work with business experts to define requirements and project time frames, and with engineering teams to define, time-estimates and assign engineering tasks to fulfill the requirements using Polarion ALM’s time-box approach to planning. From this data, Polarion ALM for Subversion automatically generates the project plan as an enhanced Gantt chart, or “Live Plan”. As the project gets under way, the project's Live Plan is updated automatically in real time as developers work on and close tasks.

Live Dashboards and Reports

As development progresses and engineering team members complete tasks, Polarion ALM for Subversion generates a number of Dashboards with charts and reports based on the latest data in the repository. You can specify how often dashboards are refreshed, and you can always explicitly refresh to get the very latest data. These exclusive Live Dashboards reveal many important facts about the true state of development – per project, or for the enterprise as a whole. There’s a robust set of metrics, audits, and reports that reveal everything from the levels of code reuse to the status of agile process compliance.
