Serena Change Request Management treats change management as a true process, whether you need to track changes for a single project or manage an enterprise-wide change advisory board. It collects change requests via simple, easily configured Web forms. Once collected, change requests are routed to the appropriate people or groups for triage, approval and execution. The system can also manage the change review board voting process, making it easy for each member to vote to approve or reject the request.

Serena Incident and Escalation Management categorizes, routes, escalates and tracks incidents and problems, from capture through resolution, across people, teams and systems. Using simple Web forms, users can submit trouble tickets, which are routed to the right people, ensuring the shortest possible time to resolution. Development managers can trace status and automate the flow of critical incidents; ensuring service level agreements are met. Seamless integration into developers’ issue management processes ensures incidents don’t fall through the cracks. Everyone can see the latest status of incident resolution.

Serena Issue and Defect Management goes beyond traditional tools that track bugs in isolated databases. It uses a Web-based user interface and an enterprise-class workflow engine to automate the entire process of capturing, routing, collaborating on and resolving issues and defects across globally distributed people, teams and systems. Using a visual designer, you can integrate the issue management process with test cases in quality management systems such as HP Quality Center or support systems such as Salesforce.com.

BENEFITS

With Serena Development Process Management applications all changes are captured and routed to the appropriate people -- even across globally dispersed teams -- for approval and execution. Change requests are prioritized, tracked and managed, from receipt to delivery, and managers can coordinate across different people, teams and systems. Notification systems minimize risk and ensure tasks don’t fall through the cracks. Everyone involved in the process, including the request originator, can see request status, eliminating unproductive email threads and increasing stakeholder satisfaction. Business clients can collaborate with the development organization on prioritizing changes, and thanks to seamless integration between change management and issue/defect management systems, there is no duplication of effort on the part of developers. By treating change management as a true process, development organizations spend less time in change status meetings and more time ensuring the business runs efficiently.

The Development Process Management solution enables the service desk to escalate incidents with the click of a button. Incidents are seamlessly handed off to developers’ issue/defect management systems, and the service desk receives continual updates of issue status any time it changes in the development system. This ensures nothing gets lost in the shuffle and that service desk personnel always have the latest information.

Issue/defect management is run as a non-disruptive process that does not distract developers from writing code. The process of capturing, routing, collaborating on and resolving issues and defects across globally distributed teams and systems is fully automated. Developers are working on the most important changes and issues, and all stakeholders have visibility into whether their needs are being met. Managers have easy access to the life cycle of all requests, across heterogeneous environments, so they can easily track metrics and create reports on anything from a root cause analysis, to preparation for a SOX audit. Because code review processes are in place, changes cannot take place under the radar, minimizing the chance of defects making their way into final releases.
