Lovell & Mercier is pleased to announce the next in its
popular and long-running series of Dimensions Technical seminars. This seminar, "Building Custom
Interfaces for Serena Dimensions", walks attendees through the process of
developing custom interfaces for Dimensions.
Three custom interfaces will be examined at the source code level: Dimensions Helpdesk, Clone Product Control
Plan, and Convert Attachments. These three interfaces access a variety of
Dimensions published views and tables, and present the user with a variety of
user interfaces, all of which are typical when developing interfaces for
Dimensions.
The Dimensions Helpdesk in an interface that automates, by
way of change requests, the process of registering users and making role
assignments. Dimensions shops with a
large number of users will especially recognize the advantages of developing a
Dimensions Helpdesk interface.
The Clone Product Control Plan interface allows Dimensions
Administrators the flexibility to develop a new product control plan in a
development environment and move the entire control plan, including roles and
role assignments, to a test environment and then to the production environment
in minutes with 100% certainty that the product in production matches what was
created in development. Dimensions shops
that have a large number of products, and undergo periodic reorganizations,
will recognize the value of developing a similar interface.
The Convert Attachments interface provides Dimensions
Administrators the ability to convert attachments to items. Dimensions shops that are experiencing
excessively long oracle export times because of the attachments in the DBFILES
tablespace will recognize the value in developing a similar interface.
The actual Visual Basic source code for a fourth interface,
Rename Product, will be given to all attendees.
The seminar will be held at the Fairfield Inn Denver
Airport, 6851 Tower Road, Denver, CO 80249 (303) 576-9640 on October 10,
2007. There will be coffee and donuts
served beginning at 7:30 AM, and the two-hour seminar will start at 8:00 AM.
