Weston, MA (USA)/Mechelen (Belgium) – May 15, 2007 - IKAN, an independent supplier of software solutions for software change management announced today the release of SCM4ALL 4.1, its enterprise build, release and life cycle management solution.

SCM4ALL 4.1 offers a secure yet flexible process-centric software change management solution for both local and distributed development teams, and manages and automates SOA, Agile and traditional development processes. It complements existing version management tools by automating the complete software life-cycle management process, offering a single point of control and delivering support for your build, deploy, release and software life-cycle management and the associated approval processes. SCM4ALL helps reduce build complexity, solving complex deployment issues and accelerating release cycles.

A tailored life-cycle from development, test, quality assurance and production can be implemented, offering a comprehensive framework across all major platforms including Windows, UNIX, Linux and even z/0S mainframe systems. SCM4ALL also has a stream-based project model providing support for multiple parallel life-cycles for different releases undergoing parallel development of a product. It has a state-of-the-art architecture to control remote build and deploy servers and offers a one click interface to bring your application to life on as many servers as you want. If things go wrong, you can easily roll-back to a previous release.

SCM4ALL facilitates compliance with legislation like the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, DO-178B and numerous similar state-specific acts and improves an organization's ability to conform to popular process standards (such as the CMM, ITIL, Six Sigma™). It can play an integral part in achieving compliance through automation of the business process, including all software development processes, notification and approval activities,

and provides full audit trail and reporting facilities.

Notable enhancements to SCM4ALL 4.1 include:

  • Serena® PVCS® Version Manager integration – In addition to CVS, Subversion, IBM® Rational® ClearCase® (UCM and Base), IBM® Rational® ClearCase® LT, and Microsoft® Visual SourceSafe®, SCM4ALL now also supports PVCS Version Manager. This interface seamlessly integrates PVCS Version Manager's easy-to-use PC version control within the SCM4ALL change management framework, by offering automation, control and visibility throughout the complete life-cycle. It allows you to add these next steps to PVCS Version Manager.

  • Apache Maven 2 support - SCM4ALL now integrates with Maven 2, giving you the possibility to reuse existing build/test or deploy scripts written in this leading scripting tool. This enables you to automate, accelerate and simplify software builds, ensuring that your software applications are built the right way every time. It allows you to solve complex deployment issues, such as keeping life clustered servers, or synchronizing applications with their database. It also offers support for Apache Ant, NAnt and Make via Ant.

  • New notification system through RSS implementation - Interested parties (developers, testers, production operations people, product managers,.etc.) may subscribe to an RSS feed on the latest Builds/Deploys for the desired steps (Development, Test, QA, Production,…) in the life-cycle of a project. This is fully customizable. For example, a  subscriber may choose to be notified only on failed Builds of a certain Project or Stream. This allows integration with IDE’s that have an RSS reader plugin (like Eclipse, JDeveloper, MS VisualStudio, …)

  • Support for JBoss application server - Adding to support for Apache Tomcat, Oracle AS, BEA Weblogic, SCM4ALL now also supports the JBoss application server.

  • List build result interface - this allows you to browse the contents of Build Results in the Build Archive (without needing to download them).  Since the sources are also browse-able this makes it possible to establish the source to binary relationships within a project.

  • Many small enhancements - These include support for “ext” protocol in CVS, updated support of the NANT Scripting tool to NANT 0.85, support for the latest Apache Tomcat 6.0, …
