Lexington, MA, March 6, 2007 – AccuRev Inc. has appointed David Jabs vice president of engineering. A well-known engineering executive in the New England area, Mr. Jabs is responsible for managing the engineering group and overseeing overall product development of AccuRev® software configuration management (SCM). Mr. Jabs’ experience will be particularly beneficial as AccuRev extends its product leadership position in supporting geographically distributed, outsourced and agile development teams managing multiple software releases in parallel.
Mr. Jabs brings over 25 years of senior management and
engineering experience to his role at AccuRev. Mr. Jabs was most recently vice
president of engineering at Tibersoft where he was responsible for redefining
the engineering strategy and completing key projects for Tibersoft’s largest
customers. Mr. Jabs was also one of the founding architects of IBM
Rational ClearCase® at Atria Software where he participated in
the architecture and design of many areas of the SCM product from the inception
of the company and is a co-inventor of two ClearCase patents.
Lorne Cooper, AccuRev stated, “David brings a wealth of
strategic management and hands-on engineering experience to AccuRev, including
SCM experience as one of the co-creators and founding engineering team members
of ClearCase. Organizations are hitting the limits of ClearCase for solving more
prominent geographically distributed and massive parallel
development challenges than existed just ten years ago, when ClearCase was
considered innovative. AccuRev continues to address these problems and is hiring
the most experienced SCM and software development tools individuals, and David
is another great addition to the team.”
Prior to Tibersoft, Mr. Jabs was vice president of
engineering at Incipient Inc. In addition, Mr. Jabs served as vice president of
engineering for American Internet Corporation, where he expanded the engineering
team and was instrumental in negotiating a key OEM contract with Cisco Systems,
which led to a subsequent acquisition by Cisco. He also served as an outside
director for Lexington Software Associates, an SCM consulting company, providing
guidance throughout the company's initial financing and eventual merger with
Interwoven.
“AccuRev is clearly not looking to recreate another
Rational ClearCase, but is building a team with the same ideals of solving
customer’s software development problems with a SCM tool built for today’s
challenges, much like the team at Atria did 17 years ago with ClearCase,” says
Mr. Jabs, vice president of engineering. “I am excited to be handed the torch to
lead this talented group of engineers that is building the next market leading
SCM solution.”
