Corticon Technologies Delivers Corticon Business Rules Foundation – The First Completely Embeddable

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.-- Corticon Technologies, the leader in model-driven Business Rules Management Systems (BRMS), today announced the immediate availability of the Corticon Business Rules Management Foundation (Corticon Foundation) a flexible and powerful new platform to embed Corticon’s market leading Business Rules Management capabilities into any enterprise application. Now enterprise software developers can build powerful decision automation capabilities directly into their own application interfaces and manage their business rules from within their repositories, providing a seamless user experience from creation of rules to execution.

Corticon Foundation is the first release in the Corticon 5 product line – Corticon’s next generation business rules management system – that raises the bar and extends the reach of decision automation across the enterprise. Future Corticon products will be built upon the Corticon Foundation.

Business Rules Systems such as Corticon’s have historically allowed organizations to separate the creation and management of their critical business logic from their hard-coded applications; thereby delivering on the promise of agility and reuse. But the process of creating and managing the business rules occurred exclusively within user interface of the business rules system.

Corticon’s customers and partners have demanded ways to seamlessly integrate business rules creation and management into their native user interfaces whether they are development environments like a business process management system, or specific end-user applications like a CRM system. That demand has driven Corticon to deliver an open architecture that separates their user interfaces from the rich set of business rules capabilities in Corticon’s BRMS. The Corticon Foundation consists of a library of model-driven BRMS functions, delivered as a set of ‘headless services’ that can be exposed in any form, and from within any application.

“We chose the leading business rules technology from Corticon because its ease of use, its power and because the innovative architecture of the Corticon Foundation allows us to seamlessly fit business rules modeling into the ARIS Platform,” said Karl Wagner, Member of the Board of Management IDS Scheer. “As the worldwide leading provider of Business Process Management and IT solutions, IDS can offer the new ARIS Business Rules Designer as a completely integrated process and rule management solution.”

The Corticon Foundation Software Development Kit (SDK) includes: business rules modeling and repository APIs, associated Java docs, design documents, Junit tests for all APIs and prototype client code for partners and customers to use as design patterns.

"One of the more complex and pressing issues in the BRMS market is the integration of a decisioning system with other applications," said Stephen D. Hendrick, Group Vice President of Application Development and Deployment Research at IDC. "A decisioning system is a key component in the application stack and must integrate with other components/subsystems responsible for application development, messaging, business process, metadata management, business analytics and change & configuration management. BRMS vendors that integrate in a way that complements and eliminates redundancy of/within key systems of record will accelerate their product's path to adoption and partnering."

“Business rules – and to a greater extent the decisions automated by rules – exist across every part of the IT continuum,” said Dr. Mark Allen, Co-founder and CEO, Corticon. “A broad class of IT solutions from business applications driven by BPM systems or built on classic technologies to IT infrastructure solutions such as systems management and security are full of decision points and therefore business rules. To our knowledge, Corticon Foundation is the first Business Rules System that allows the entire lifecycle of rules creation, rules management and rules execution to be delivered as a native part of any applications.”
