New Customers Can Enjoy Benefits of BEA's Industry-Leading BPM and Collaboration Technologies in a Single Integrated SOA Solution

BEA Systems, a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, today announced continued growth in adoption of its BEA AquaLogic BPM Suite (ALBPM) with several new customers selecting this innovative solution that is designed to help support complex, collaborative business processes in heterogeneous enterprises. As more companies focus on redesigning and improving their processes, they are using ALBPM to tap directly into SOA. By linking BPM with SOA, system complexity can be separated from business processes, helping create a more flexible infrastructure that is designed to increase both business and IT agility. Recent customers implementing AquaLogic BPM Suite include Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, Mercury General Corporation and Novartis Pharmaceuticals.

"In every modern organization, there is a constant interplay of people, processes and systems. In this dynamic environment, managers must continually update their tactics in order to better compete in the marketplace. Whether the goal is to increase sales or reduce costs, an organization benefits from better understanding and optimization of their business processes," said Mark Carges, executive vice president at BEA Systems.

AquaLogic BPM Suite is a business process management solution is designed to integrate the modeling, implementation, execution and monitoring of end-to- end business processes, helping support the continuous optimization of the entire business process lifecycle. Additionally, companies want to address the more dynamic process challenges that require deeper context and collaborative work and are using BEA AquaLogic BPM Collaboration Edition to bring together portal, collaboration and BPM technologies into a single integrated SOA solution. This new product, announced in December 2006, is designed to coordinate human- focused activities and collaboration between users and systems integration, all within a process, which can help companies lower operating and IT costs, improve user effectiveness and increase organizational agility.

BPM And The Sales Process: The Babcock & Wilcox Company

For nearly 140 years, The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) has been supplying innovative solutions to meet the world's growing energy needs. The company has power generation systems and equipment found in more than 800 utilities and industries in more than 90 countries.

"B&W began working with BEA over three years ago when we were looking for a service-oriented solution that would reduce costs and improve communication between our employees, customers and suppliers," said Penny Sherrod, director of enterprise systems at The Babcock & Wilcox Company. "We successfully deployed MyB&W, an enterprise portal, on the BEA AquaLogic User Interaction that helped us meet these goals by providing a platform that aggregated tools and information from numerous disparate systems. This initial success greatly influenced our decision to deploy AquaLogic BPM Collaboration Edition."

With MyB&W successfully deployed to over 3,000 employees, B&W recognized an opportunity to integrate the AquaLogic BPM Collaboration Edition with its existing portal to support its highly complex and "engineered to order"
sales process and plans to create a sales tool designed to help enhance sales performance, improve sales productivity and increase profitable bookings. The effectiveness of the new application will be judged by its positive effect on margin, volume, customer satisfaction, sales plan submissions and new contract wins.

"For years, salespeople at B&W created their own ad hoc processes for dealing with leads and opportunities," said Jim Malone, vice president of sales and marketing of The Babock & Wilcox Company. "But by analyzing these processes and identifying opportunities for improved efficiencies, B&W is implementing a best-practice, systematic way to track and manage new leads."

AquaLogic BPM Collaboration Edition brings the powerful resources of three industry-leading BEA products together on one platform for the quickest possible deployment: AquaLogic BPM Suite, AquaLogic Interaction and AquaLogic Interaction Collaboration.
