SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Agile Software Corporation ,
a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions,
today announced the release and general availability of Agile Advantage
2006 Service Pack 2 (SP2), delivering a new licensing model that
provides customers with complete access to all Agile Advantage modules,
enhanced viewer capabilities, an expanded array of SmartRules that
allows customers to efficiently and flexibly monitor for compliance and
other conditions, and improved audit tools. Agile Advantage 2006 is
Agile's PLM offering for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
"The Product Record Management module of Agile Advantage has been
our long-standing solution of choice for managing our intellectual
property and tying our product development and manufacturing partners
into our processes," said Robert Chiang, director, quality assurance,
Santur Corporation. "The new licensing model in SP2 will allow a wider
group of users throughout our organization and our product chain to
gain access to the features and functions in the Agile Advantage
solution suite. We're considering how these expanded areas of our
business might leverage Agile Advantage through the new licensing
model, and how such adoption might deliver improved business process
uniformity and enablement of best practices."
Agile Advantage 2006 Service Pack 2 includes the following enhancements and changes.
New License Model. With SP2, customers have two important new
licensing options-the Agile Advantage Extended and Agile Advantage
Unlimited licensing plans-which open access to all Agile Advantage
modules. The Agile Advantage Extended license option provides access to
all modules for a specific number of users, and the Agile Advantage
Unlimited License option delivers this total Agile Advantage access to
an entire company and its supply chain partners. Before the new
licensing options in Service Pack 2, a company that purchased licenses
to the Product Record Management module needed to purchase additional
licenses for use of additional modules, such as Agile Quality
Management or Agile Product Compliance Management. Agile Advantage SP2
offers customers an important leap in value by delivering access to the
entire Agile Advantage solution suite through the Extended and
Unlimited licensing plans. Customers simply estimate their
concurrent-user needs and license that number of sessions. As customers
deploy the solution throughout the company and they adopt more and more
functionality, additional session licenses can be purchased easily and
quickly. This allows customers to buy only what their actual usage
dictates. For customers who wish to remain with Agile Advantage's
traditional licensing model, Agile Standard licensing is still an
option.
AutoVue Professional Desktop Edition v19.1 SP2. Support for the
latest release of the Cimmetry viewer includes the most recent versions
of a number of leading CAD software systems, including SolidWorks 2007,
MicroStation V8XM, and OneSpace Designer Drafting (ME10). Cimmetry is a
member of the Agile family. This product enables Agile Advantage to
easily keep up with all the latest CAD releases and assures that
customers can view the latest CAD software, with updates released on
time and in synch with their PLM system. As designers' tools advance,
timely reviews are assured so that errors are eliminated early in the
design cycle.
Improved Audit Window. Agile Advantage's pop-up Audit Window allows
users to check compliance with configuration rules (SmartRules),
automating tedious but important tasks and improving efficiency. The
new SP2 version of Audit Window adds fourteen new Compliance Management
rules and organizes them for easier management. These new capabilities
speed greatly the tracking of product compliance and improve the
productivity of analysts. The new Audit Window in SP2 is also much more
organized and user-friendly than previous versions, appearing in
standard Windows livery, and displaying continually so that it
functions as a work list.
New "Unincorporated BOM Item" SmartRule. An incorporated item is one
that has had the proper review of the drawings or files attached to it.
Many companies require that their files and drawings have been
reviewed, updated, and incorporated before a change can be released.
This is especially true in ISO- or FDA-compliance situations. Until
now, such compliance could only be assured by means of item-by-item
review of a bill of materials (BOM), a tedious process as BOMs can
contain hundreds of items or more. With the new "Unincorporated BOM
Item" SmartRule, a single click of the control checks the status of
every item (including child items) in a BOM, so the analyst has to deal
only with the unincorporated items. Such important productivity
enhancements help change analysts and engineers make more positive and
creative contributions, while helping companies hold development costs
down and assure regulatory and process compliance.
"Agile Advantage customers have enthusiastically embraced the
changes within the new Agile Advantage Service Pack 2 release," said
Craig Livingston, vice president and general manager, SME solutions,
Agile. "Agile Advantage has always delivered maximum software value
through flexible purchase of just what is needed, when it is needed,
and where it is needed. The enhanced productivity capabilities
delivered in SP2, combined with the outstanding economic benefit of the
expanded licensing model, will continue to increase our customers'
advantage over their competition."
