ALISO VIEJO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In conjunction with Microsoft's launch today of Exchange Server 2007, Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT) announced its support for customers moving to the new version of Microsoft Exchange Server. Quest has spent years helping organizations migrate to and manage Exchange Server, and now stands ready to help its customers smoothly and successfully implement the new messaging platform. Quest also offers products to help manage the entire messaging lifecycle - from planning and analysis through compliance and ongoing management.

Quest's products benefit from the knowledge of industry experts such as David Sengupta, longtime Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) in the Exchange Server category and group product manager at Quest. "When an organization is planning to move to Exchange Server 2007, pre-assessment of the current Exchange Server and Active Directory environment is a critical first step," Sengupta said. "Having an accurate view of the Active Directory site topology and understanding existing message routing are foundational to assessing readiness for Exchange Server 2007. Assessments also highlight opportunities for migration project cost savings and risk reduction through pre-migration archival and by effective management throughout the migration.

"These are key success factors for organizations planning an Exchange Server 2007 migration project," Sengupta continued. "Once the migration is complete, organizations need to have the tools in place to effectively manage this new environment to ensure its availability and efficiency, and to manage the vast amounts of data created in the messaging environment."

To date, Quest has migrated more than 10 million mailboxes to Exchange Server, and the company will continue to offer tools for efficient, automated migration from:
  • Exchange Server 5.5, 2000 and 2003 to Exchange Server 2007
  • Lotus Notes to Exchange Server 2007
  • Novell GroupWise to Exchange Server 2007
"Our customers are excited about Exchange Server 2007 because of the improved storage and availability it will offer," said Dave Champine, director, Exchange solutions, Quest Software. "At Quest, we offer a full line of products to take these storage and availability gains even further. We understand that organizations need to minimize the impact of a migration to their environment, and we've taken the initiative to make sure that our customers have a complete path from migration to management of this new platform."

Quest products are also used to manage more than 10 million Exchange Server mailboxes, and the company plans to extend to the newest platform management capabilities including:
  • Reporting and analysis
  • Diagnostics and resolution
  • Mailbox management and compliance archiving
  • Message recovery and discovery
  • Continuous availability
"Customers are telling us that e-mail is a mission-critical application, and as business requirements evolve they require a highly available and innovative messaging solution that will meet these needs," said Dave Thompson, vice president of the Exchange Server Group at Microsoft Corp. "As a long-standing Exchange Server partner, Quest has been at the forefront of the Exchange Server 2007 readiness program, preparing to help ensure that our mutual customers are able to quickly and easily realize the benefits of the next-generation leading e-mail, calendaring and unified messaging solution."
