Back by popular demand, updated to Dimensions CM Ver. 10 and including advanced topics, this seminar will introduce attendees to the Serena Dimensions CM Process Model Scripting Interface (DMPMCLI). This seminar is targeted to Dimensions System Administrators, but all Dimensions users, as well as CM Managers that use Serena Dimensions CM, or provide input to users, will find it valuable. Dimensions CM is a robust Change/Configuration Management tool available on a wide range of platforms. Dimensions CM has powerful user interfaces and command line interfaces, one of which is the Process Modeler Command Line Interface (DMPMCLI). The DMPMCLI allows the user to develop powerful scripts to help automate much of the work performed by Dimensions Administrators. However, many organizations not familiar with the DMPMCLI continue to use the Administration Console exclusively. Consequently, Dimensions Administrators spend a significant amount of time in the Administrstion Console doing work that A) takes longer, B) is not logged for auditing purposes, and C) is not repeatable with any degree of confidence. It is the latter issue that is most significant, and that the DMPMCLI overcomes COMPLETELY. The DMPMCLI scripting interface provides a set of Java classes that expose Dimensions components via a simple and consistent object model. The DMPMCLI provides the capability to manage an enterprise-wide Dimensions implementation more easily, while ensuring consistency and integrity throughout one or more base databases. Using the Java Scripting language, DMPMCLI scripts can be developed that provide a capability to access all products in a base database. By using the DMPMCLI, users can apply changes to all products in a consistent and reliable manner. What might take days or even weeks to accomplish manually is accomplished in minutes using PM Scripting. As the Dimensions environment grows, the PM Scripting interface becomes even more valuable as a Dimensions management tool. This seminar will introduce you to DMPMCLI classes, collections, and associated components. You will see online demonstrations of the Serena Dimensions Process Modeler Command Line Interface and become familiar with basic DMPMCLI concepts, and some of more advanced concepts, as well. You will walk away with an understanding of the PM Scripting interface capabilities, knowledge of how to use the PM Scripting examples to begin to build process model scripts in your own environment, and a CD containing scripts of all of the capabilities demonstrated at the seminar. Send us your real-life problem and we will, time permitting, use your problem as the basis for one of the demonstrations. The two-hour seminar will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at the facility of one of our partners, Project Performance Corporation (PPC). The seminar will start promptly at 8:00 A.M, and complimentary coffee and donuts will be available at 7:30 A.M. Please register early. Seating is limited and most of our seminars have filled to capacity. A waiting list will be maintained for registration requests that exceed available accommodations.
