Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) is one of the hottest areas in software development.  Yet, what does ALM really consist of and how do you best apply and implement ALM within your organization?  Day 1 of the ALM Expo will examine the fundamental components of ALM and some of the best practices, tools and strategies that are being utilized in leading ALM environments.  The day will kick off with a keynote panel discussion with industry experts discussing ALM fundamentals and implementation best practices.  The keynote will then be followed by 4 additional presentations on ALM concepts that will spotlight ALM release management fundamentals, ALM process automation, ALM planning and much more.


About the Presenters:

Uttam Narsu,
Former Forrester/Giga Analyst and SCM expert

Uttam Narsu has more than 20 years of experience as an analyst, architect, software developer, trainer, and consultant. Uttam is quoted frequently in industry publications such as Application Development Trends, CNET (News.com), Computerworld, eWEEK, InformationWeek, and Internet Week, as well as in Business Week and the Financial Times. Uttam has also spoken at numerous industry conferences. Formerly a well-known SCM analyst with Forrester Research and Giga Information Group, Uttam now freelances, consulting on a broad range of enterprise application development areas including SCM, agile development methodologies, ALM and testing. Uttam attended the University of Chicago and earned a B.S. in computer science from the State University of New York, Albany.

Eddy Pauwels,

Eddy Pauwels has been in the software business for over 20 years. During his career he worked for companies like Trinzic Corp., Platinum Technology and Computer Associates which provided him with a broad background in IT, ranging from Application Lifecycle Management (Development, Modelling, Change and Process Management, Requirements Management), Project and Portfolio Management, to Information Management (Business Intelligence, rules, and Data Warehousing). The majority of his professional career he devoted to consulting, strategy, business development, technical advice, promotion and education of the product suites he was responsible for. Eddy holds a masters degree in computer science from the University of Brussels and lectures on the topic of Application Life Cycle Management regularly.

Doug Akers,
Director of Customer Requirements,
MKS

Doug Akers is the Director of Customer Requirements of MKS, responsible for leadership of MKS global product management activities; he also manages the strategy and roadmap of MKS’s enterprise products and solutions build on MKS Integrity – a unified engineering platform for application lifecycle management. Doug also leads the direction and production of all learning initiatives related to the MKS product lines.

Doug joined MKS in August 1995 and has held positions within Customer Support, Marketing and Product Management for both the Integrity and Interoperability businesses since that time.

Doug holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Psychology from McMaster University.

Carolyn Pampino
Strategic Offerings Program Director
IBM Rational

Carolyn Pampino is the Program Director for Strategic Offerings focused on IT Software Delivery. She leads teams in defining, developing and delivering strategic offerings to help IT organizations DECIDE what to invest in, DO what they decided, and Deploy what they just did. She is a member of the ALM leadership team at IBM Rational, working closely with the Jazz team leads to define the Collaborative Lifecycle Management road map and strategy. She is co-author of an eBook available from InfoQ.com titled "Scaling Agile with Collaborative ALM" and an IBM Redbook titled Collaborative Application Lifecycle Management with Rational products. She was a founding member of the team defining strategies for Rational and Tivoli product integrations, and contributed to Rational's acquisition of Build Forge. Prior to IBM, Carolyn was the Director of Product Management, Development, and Competitive Intelligence at BroadVision, Inc.
