CM Journal Article Submission Guidelines
When submitting your articles for the CM Journal, CM Basics or Agile Journal please adhere to the following guidelines
Due Date:
Articles are due 1 week prior to the publication date. The CM Journal is usually published on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. See the Editorial Calendar for exact dates.
Title:
Try to keep the title to less than 100 characters. Anything longer than that will be truncated in the online version.
Abstract:
It
is always good to get some peer review of your topic prior to
publication. So if you would like to submit your abstract for
discussion in the editors forum, please do so well in advance of the
materials due date. Once your completed article is submitted. Changes
may not be possible prior to publication. If you do not already have
access to the editors forum and would like to participate in discussions there please let us know
Author Bio:
A
short (1 Paragrah) bio is required for all writers. You may include
your email address, links to your company's website or links to your
other published works. You should also submit a recent head and
shoulders digital picture of yourself in jpg format. If you desire, we
can supply a @cmcrossroads.com email address redirected to your actual
email address to discourage spam.
Article length:
Articles
should be in 1000-1500 words in length. Longer articles may be
submitted but you may wish to break it into multiple pieces to run as a
series.
Article Content:
You
may use pictures graphics or other diagrams in your article but keep in
mind that graphics will be viewed online with a maximum width of 500
pixels so try to keep them relatively simple. Please submit graphics
in jpg format.
Use as little formatting in your article as
possible since will all be removed prior to publication. Use of HEADING
styles is not recommended and will be converted to BOLD, BOLD UNDERSCORE and BOLD ITALICS
Bulleted
and numbered lists should use no more than two levels. Try to avoid an
over use of bulleted lists. Try to leave that for the manuals.
Submission methods:
To submit your article you may chose which ever of the three methods is most comfortable for you.
1 - Send it to us by email:
Send your complete article in MS-Word format to edteam@cmcmedia.com Be sure that if you have included graphics in your article that you also email
the images as separate attachments. PLEASE avoid using word
formatting other than bold, italics, underscore and bulleted lists.
2 - Submit your article as a post to the Editors Forum:
Submit your article as a new post in
the editors forum will allow you to not only see it online as it will
appear when published but will also allow your fellow writers to review
it and provide feedback in the form of a reply. When posting your
article the the forum. Please indicate when it is final. If you do not
indicate that it is final on the due date it will be used as is. You
may add graphics as attachments to the post.
3 - Submit the article online directly to our CMS.
You
have the ability to submit your article directly to the Content
Management Systems using an online WYSIWYG editor that functions much
like MS-Word. Using the My Content
link found in the User Menu at the right side of any page you may view
any article you have already submitted. From this menu you may submit
a new article by using Choose Section drop down tool. Be sure to choose Articles.
On
the following page you will be presented with two html editor boxes.
One is for the intro. This is the first paragraph that is displayed in
the magazine main page. The Main Text box is for the remainder of the
article. While editing you may launch Full Screen Mode to make editing
easier. If you would like more information about using the online
editor please let us know.
