CM Crossroads deploys new web portal using
open source tools and high performance servers
SANTA BARBARA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) – October 26, 2006 – CMC Media Inc.,
publisher of the Configuration Management Journal and Agile Journal, announced today
that it has completed the re-launch of its popular configuration management
developer community website cmcrossroads.com.
Membership to CM Crossroads is free and available online at – www.cmcrossroads.com
Since 1998 CM Crossroads has been the preeminent source for information
and news about Configuration Management and Application Lifecycle management
tools and solutions with lively discussion forums, a wiki web (CmWiki) and the
CM Yellow Pages with links to a wide variety of developer resources. With
steady growth in its membership and increased popularity of blogging and
streaming media, CMC Media embarked on a complete re-deployment of CM
Crossroads in order to support the dynamic nature of the developer community.
CM Crossroads was re-deployed to a new more robust managed hosting
infrastructure utilizing services from Rackspace Managed Hosting(tm). "We
decided to go with Rackspace for one reason, their award-winning Support,"
said Patrick Egan, Publisher for CMC Media. "If a problem does occur, we
don't have to keep our fingers crossed that we will be able to recover.
Rackspace will take care of us and make sure we stay up and running."
The CM Crossroads website was also redesigned from the ground up using
open source solutions for all primary applications including the Joomla content
management system and SMF, the Simple Machines Forum. According to Mr. Egan, “We
chose both Joomla and SMF because of their highly active developer communities.
With thousands of engaged members at both Joomla.org and Simplemachines.org we can
be sure that our site will be able to support our own developer
community.”
