CollabNet SCM is based on the industry’s newest open source versioning system, Subversion, which is quickly establishing a new standard in the industry. It is designed specifically for distributed, Internet-based development and manages changes to files and directories. CollabNet SCM has many powerful features over its predecessor, CVS. These new capabilities, including directory versioning, rich metadata, atomic commits, and support for binary differences, meet users’ requirements for improved functionality for storing and tracking code changes, or other versioned artifacts regardless of geographic location. CollabNet SCM also features integration into CollabNet Project Tracker allowing association of code commits with defects, tasks, or requirements. This integration provides end-to-end process control throughout the software development lifecycle.
