Founded in 1997, SourceGear first entered the CM world by providing SourceOffSite, an add-on product for Microsoft Visual SourceSafe. After years of providing this popular tool, SourceGear finally decided to enter the market with a source control tool of its own. SourceGear Vault was first shipped in February 2003. Version 2.0 was released in early 2004.
