The act of releasing an application for use in a production environment is arguably the most critical point of an application’s lifecycle, yet IT organizations routinely use a combination of manual processes and in-house written scripts to manage this process.

Adopting release management best practices will ensure smooth transitions of application changes from development to production. A more efficient release management process will enable IT to deliver an effective release management service that achieves service level goals, reduces operational costs, complies with government regulatory requirements and delivers a quality customer experience.

About the Presenters:

Mario Moreira is a Columnist for CM Journal, a Director/Architect of Technology, an Author of CM publications, and has worked in the SCM field since 1986. He has experience with numerous SCM technologies and processes and has implemented SCM on over 100 applications/products, which include establishing global SCM infrastructures. He has an MA in Mass Communication with an emphasis on communication technologies. Mario also brings years of Project Management, Software Quality Assurance, Requirement Engineering, IT Governance Architecture, Methodology, and team building skills and experience.

Derrek Seif, Product Manager, Quest Software . Mr. Seif is currently responsible for Quest’s application release management solution, Foglight Release Manager. Prior to joining Quest Software, Mr. Seif managed Synygy Inc.’s performance management product offering. Derrek’s software experience began at IBM where he was responsible for working with Fortune 100 clients creating and deploying custom software applications.

Mr. Seif holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Villanova University.
