Decide in Advance[From Yet another SCM Manifesto] I don't know exactly what makes biology a "science in which information cannot be decided in advance", but surely biology is such a science, and in a deeper sense than with predicting the number and the identity of offsprings. The motor of biology is (thought to be) evolution and its results are extremely difficult to predict in advance, up to the point in which one can conjecture that it is essentially impossible to predict them in advance. I believe this is the case with software as well. I believe this is the whole deal with SCM: managing such a complexity that cannot be predicted in advance. The value of software is at its limit --whatever has been done can be reproduced. -- MarcGirod? - 27 Sep 2003Edit • Attach • Print version • History: r1 • Backlinks • Raw View • Raw edit • More topic actions |
