IBM
CMVC was a tool from the 1990's that meshed defect tracking and source management into a single process.
Files were checked into bundles called Tracks that could be Committed atomically.
No check-in could occur without a Defect. (Wonderful feature when managing S/W development).
Builds were based on Levels (groups of Tracks) that could identify exactly which Defects were fixed. (Again, wonderful for managers).
Clients on AIX, OS/2 and VM/CMS (Hey, its an IBM product!)
IBM Developed AIX and OS/2 using
CMVC.
I was part of a ten-person team that managed CM for IBM OS/2 development. We had thousands of active users.
CMVC handled it without a hickup.
The closest tools I've been able to find to match it are:
* CCC/Harvest (now called
AllFusion Harvest)
* Lucent
Sablime
