how has the economic downturn impacted you? While salaries were lower, demand for CM experts remained strong throughout the economic downturn. Now that the recovery is underway, qualified CM experts are positioned well to benefit. What do you think??

Over the past year-2 months my experience has been:
(Slightly) longer breaks between contracts... nothing awful but a bit more time on the bench than I would "want".
Squeezing of rates... no shock there then.
Less "good" roles about... Nice roles to get my teeth into, (Tool/Process) Implementations & Migrations, Process Review/Improvement etc.
I have had to take on "Business as Usual" Roles... (day to day) Change/Build/Release Management "keeping the ship running" roles.

The up side has been that a couple of BAU roles were longer term/rolling and they gave me the chance to get my hands dirty again with real nitty gritty stuff (fairly complex build and delivery scripts using cmd files and some arcane distribution tools) which refreshes the old grey matter!!
