Dear CM Crossroads Member:
I would like to invite you to the Requirements Reuse 2010 survey at:
http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/246670/requirements-reuse-2010
Software reuse has been in the focus of the software development community for many years. Reusing software project artifacts, whether it is a system architecture, requirements, software code, or testware, proved to be a key to improving software quality, reducing time to market and cost of software development and maintenance.
The goal of this survey is to gain visibility into the state of the practice with software requirements reuse in the IT industry. There are 22 questions in this survey, it should take you about 15 min to complete.
The results of this survey will be analyzed and summarized by Yuri Chernak and then either published as an article or presented at one of the conferences in the US. In addition, the results of the survey will be shared with the software development community within professional email groups on the Internet and by posting results on popular professional websites.
Please forward this survey invitation to other people in your professional network.

... I just wanted to provide a little background on this survey which I discussed with Yuri before he posted this blog. CMers are often asked to help provide a valued service to the firm by acting as the "asset managers". This means that we essentially "own" the source code for the firm and make it available for appropriate centralized tasks. One such task could be screening by the data security team to make certain that common mistakes are avoided (in practice you usually contact the developer and ask him/her to fix their code). Another task is to provide a centralized repository for storing/sharing reusable code. Knowing about software reuse will help you do a better job and in return for our participation, Yuri has promised to share his findings with us in the future. Let's all click on the link and help Yuri with his research! Bob Aiello Editor in Chief |
